Eitz Chaim is a Messianic Jewish Congregation

Our name, Eitz Chaim, means 'Tree of Life'.

The heart of our desire corresponds to our name. In Proverbs it says:

How blessed is the man who finds wisdom And the man who gains understanding. ... Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways And all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who hold her fast.
Proverbs 3:13, 18-20

And, where does Proverbs say that a man can find this wisdom?

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction. Hear, my son, your father's instruction And do not forsake your mother's teaching; Indeed, they are a graceful wreath to your head And ornaments about your neck.
Proverbs 1:7-9

So, what would a godly father's instruction and a godly mother's teaching be?

"Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!" You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.
Deuteronomy 6:4-7

This leads to a question about the nature of the life offered. Is it eternal life? Yeshua said:

"You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.
John 5:39-40

If eternal life is not found in obeying the scripture, then where is eternal life? Yeshua said:

"This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Yeshua haMoshiach whom You have sent."
John 17:3-4

Then what value, what life is in obeying the instruction of the scripture? Yeshua said:

"If you love Me, you will keep My commandments."
John 14:15

What commandments did Yeshua mean?

"Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 5:17-20

The Tree of Life (Eitz Chaim) that we hold on to are the instruction (torot) of the Torah and the Prophets, because in obeying them we show our love for the one who loves us and provides the only way for our salvation.
